Whats a time your opinion really mattered?

A time my opinion really mattered was during the last election. Since I was lucky enough to be the legal 18 years old I was finally able to vote!! This election in particular was very special to me because it allowed minorities to be heard and a minority became our president! Although my vote probably wouldn't make much of a difference it still makes you feel important when you help make history.

Movie /book/song that chnaged your perspective on something? how?

After watching the Hotel Rwanda movie it really enlighted me about the thing that were going on in Africa and how people were suffering and being killed every single day. The movie was about a war going on between two tribes in Rwanda. Everything that was in the movie was based on true events that happened. Women, the elderly and children were all being slaughtered because they were from the wrong tribe. This movie taught me to be thankful for what i have in America. My freedom, my safety, and everything else that those people in Rwanda dont have. It also taught me that nothing should ever be taken for granted.

The movie "Passion of the Christ" played a big role in the world when it first came out. It reminded religious people of what Jesus Christ went through and what he sacrificed for us and i think it helped open up the eyes of a lot of people. i think after watching that movie people wanted to be better people, be more religious, and make better decisions. I personally felt very strongly about changing after i watched this movie. It taught me to not depend on the materialistic things in life and to not take anything for granted and i think others felt that way as well.

What is your biggest pet peeve?

My biggest pet peeve is when people lie. I hate lie rs and i especially hate when people tell this big extravagant stories and they end up not being true. I don't know why people lie all i know is that it gets under my skin when they do it. What i don't understand about people who lie is that they always get caught in their lie later on and they want you to feel bad for them for whatever reason. I just choose not to be around people that are like that. If i know that someone is a lier when we first meet i don't try to be friends with them, and if someone i already knew turns out to be a lier i just try to keep my distance from them.

Education is what survives when what has been learned has been forgotten. -B.F. Skinner

What i got out of this quote is that when a person is taught something truly meaningful they can never forget it because it is added to the persons education. but if a person tries to learn something on their own they might not be able to fully understand it therefore causing them to forget what they have learned. If a person is taught something properly by a good teacher then their education will be with them forever.

What do I expect this semester from this course, the instructor, and myself.

By taking this class i hope to be a better writer. I want to improve my writing skills along with my grammer skills. I love writing but sometimes i dont have the strongest material which is the reason i dont get very good grades when i write essays, short stories, etc. Whenever i begin writing i always have great ideas in my mind on what i want to write about but im just never able to get it down on paper. I hope that this class will help me with that and i hope that the instructor will teach me what i need to do in order to improve my writing. And from myself i hope to take in all that i am taught and put it to use in my writing so i can finally get the grades i want on my writing.

I was born in Khartum, Sudan on Sept. 8th 1990. My family had to moved there 8 years proir to my brith because of the war in out home country on Eritrea. I have 2 older brother and 2 older sister makimg me the youngest in the family. When i was 2 years old we moved to San Deiago, California as refugees. After a year of living in Cali. my family decided to move to the wonderful state of Minnesota where the summers were sizzling and the winters were deadly. I love bright colors but i also love the color black. Im lactose intolerent but i still love ice cream. I went to Hardign Senior High school which is in East St.Paul and I really enjoyed going there bcause of the diversity the school consisted of. Every where you looked you would see a differet ethnicity then what you. Although my high school didnt have very much money we still got a good education because of the dedicated teachers i had. During my senior year in high school i decided that i wanted to become a Neonatel Nurse which is a nurse who specializes in taking care of newborn babies. I decided on this career because of i have an obsession with babies! So that is why i decided to come to MNSU. The nursing program here is one of the best in the state and hopefully i will succeed here.
